Plain answers
Do you take insurance?
No — Novel Wellness is a private-pay practice, on purpose. It keeps your records private, your care flexible (session length, frequency, focus), and the practice's attention on you rather than on claims. Fees are listed openly on our Sessions & Fees page. Payment is by card the morning of a session, and monthly superbills are provided upon request.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Federal law (the No Surprises Act) entitles you to a written estimate of expected costs before you start care. You'll receive yours as part of intake — no surprises is how we'd operate anyway.
How does teletherapy work?
Sessions run through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — a private link, no software to install. You need a quiet private space and a decent connection. Teletherapy is available to clients located in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Louisiana.
How do I know if we're a fit?
Reach out — call or text (919) 823-5389. We'll talk briefly about what's bringing you in and how the practice works, before you commit to anything. Fit matters to us as much as it does to you; if we're not the right practice, we'll say so and point you well.
What happens in a first session?
More conversation than clipboard. Paperwork is handled beforehand through the client portal, so the first session is about your story: what's happening, what you've tried, what you want to be different. You'll leave with a sense of direction, not just a next appointment.
What's your cancellation policy?
Your time is reserved for you alone, so we ask for 48 hours' notice — the full policy is in your intake paperwork.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, within the standard legal limits every therapist carries (safety, court orders, abuse reporting) — all spelled out in your intake documents and discussed plainly at your first session.
Do you prescribe medication?
No — that's physicians' and psychiatric providers' work. When medication questions come up, we coordinate with (or refer you to) a prescriber while therapy continues here.
